Picnic Island has been owned by former Victorian state politician Clem Newton-Brown for 20 years, and for many years was his family's holiday campsite. Mr Newton-Brown developed the island into an award-winning tourism destination, in its prime position near Wineglass Bay, the Freycinet Peninsula, and with the Hazards Mountain Range as its backdrop.
