Gold falls on strong U.S. April job report
CHICAGO, May 5 -- Gold futures on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange fell on Friday on higher than expected U.S. April job report. The most active gold contract for June delivery fell 30.90 U.S. dollars, or 1.50 percent, to close at 2,024.80 dollars per ounce. The U.S. Labor Department reported Friday that U.S. employers added 253,000 jobs in April, the best gain since January. The jobless rate fell to 3.4 percent in April, matching the lowest reading since 1969. A still-tight labor market triggers fresh doubt on rate hike pause by the Federal Reserve.
