The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal single-vehicle traffic crash at Merrimac this morning, August 26. Initial investigations indicate around 2:10am, a Nissan Navara utility was travelling along Gooding Drive before it collided with an unoccupied, parked truck. The driver of the Nissan, a 17-year-old Eagleby boy, was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital, however is not believed to have sustained serious injuries. The single passenger of the vehicle, a 17-year-old Tallai boy, was declared deceased at the scene.
