The fight for women's independence and equality in the country has significantly advanced since President Corazon Aquino signed Proclamation No. 224 (s. 1988) declaring today as Women's Rights Day. But the world has also changed a lot over the last 35 years, fueled by rapid technological progress. While technology has become a powerful tool for women and girls to exercise their rights, advance their career, and promote democracy, it has also heightened inequalities in the real and online worlds.
