The Australian Government commits to working in genuine partnership with First Nations people to improve their health and wellbeing outcomes. The Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme (PHMSS) encourages and assists entry-level First Nations students to complete their studies and join the health workforce. The scheme provides support through scholarships. In the 2023-24 Federal Budget, the government committed $1 million to support the transition of the PHMSS to a First Nations led organisation.
