CNA photo Sept. 9, 2023 Taipei, Sept. 9 (CNA) Taiwan took down world No.1 Team Japan while maintaining its undefeated streak at the U-18 Baseball World Cup Super Round held by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) in Taipei on Saturday. Team Taiwan's tight defense by its pitchers and a masterful display by base thief Chiu Hsin (邱鑫) played a part in the team's 5-2 victory over Japan. Japan was first to score in the top of the opening inning, with Ren Ogata's quick pace getting him home in just two plays to take an early 0-1 lead, besting Taiwan starter Tseng Wei-che (曾偉喆).
