Sluggish pace of Sogie bill in Senate dismays Rep. Roman
MANILA, Philippines — The lack of certainty as to when the Senate will pass the bill seeking to outlaw discrimination based on a person's sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (Sogie) has dismayed Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman — prime mover of the proposed measure in the House of Representatives. Roman, the nation's first transwoman representative, sounded the alarm about the 'slow progress' of the Sogie Equality bill in the upper chamber even as it approved at least 17 other proposed laws in its second and third reading during the last week of session before the Holy Week break.
