MANILA, Philippines — Senators on Wednesday pressed for urgent action to address the perennial problem of fresh graduates experiencing difficulty in landing jobs due to lacking 'soft skills' – like communication, adaptation, teamwork, and creativity – and practical expertise. The call came after a Commission on Human Rights (CHR) report underscored this among the challenges faced by graduates who were deprived of in-person learning during the peak of the pandemic. Sen. Risa Hontiveros said this is not a new problem for the education sector, noting that policies seeking to address this had already been studied and implemented.
