Report: Experts Believe Prosecutors Are Mulling 'Little RICO' Mob Law Against Trump Org
The federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) was passed in 1970 as a way to combat organized crime. Similar state laws, like New York's 'little RICO,' carry stiff penalties, including prison. They can be used against businesses proven to have repeatedly engaged in criminal activity to maximize income. Jeffrey Robbins, a white-collar attorney and former federal prosecutor, told Business Insider that it wouldn't 'surprise' him 'in the slightest that, among other things, prosecutors are looking at whether there's a basis to charge the [Trump] organization with racketeering.
