The Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) of the Philippine National Police has warned against fraudulent online job offers called 'task scams' targeting job seekers looking for an alternative source of income. ACG director Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia said the modus operandi of these scammers involved enticing job postings to lure victims. At first, individuals were expected to complete basic tasks which require no investment, such as liking posts, watching videos, or sharing content to earn income. Once these tasks were done, commissions were given right away.
