MANILA, Philippines — The 6.3 earthquake in Calatagan, Batangas early Thursday is not likely to cause tsunami, state seismologists said. 'We don't expect a tsunami warning because of the depth of the focus,' the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a statement. The tectonic tremor occurred at 10:19 am, 15 kilometers southwest of the said area, and had a depth of 119 kilometers. Tsunamis are typically generated from large and shallow earthquakes with an epicenter or fault line near or on the ocean floor, according to the International Tsunami Information Center.
