MANILA, Philippines — A commander from the Philippine Navy on Wednesday disclosed that Vietnamese fisherfolks were intercepted after they were detected encroaching Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea. According to Vice Adm. Alberto Carlos, who commands the Western Command that protects the Kalayaan Island Group, the Navy's last apprehension took place last December 2022. 'Ang last natin na apprehension is December. Last December, we apprehended yung mga Vietnamese fishermen encroaching on the waters off Pag-asa Island,' said Carlos during the Laging Handa Public Briefing.
