What a nutty situation.A California-based pistachio company was made privy to some criminal wrongdoings after roughly 42,000 pounds of their product had mysteriously disappeared.Fox News reports how the Touchstone Pistachio Company—which is based out of Terra Bella—realized that a significant portion of their inventory was missing whilst doing a routine audit. The organization alerted the Tulare County Sheriff's Office, who later found the tractor-trailer which had contained the missing nuts had been moved from the lot Montemayor Trucking—a family-owned company that's contracted by the nut company—to another nearbyAccording to a post on the department's Facebook page, the stash of the ‘stachios—whose total value is estimated to be about $170,000—were being transferred from their original 2,000-pound sacks to smaller ones for resale purposes.
