The NSW Government has approved 2 new batteries to help future-proof NSW's power supply for more than 100,000 homes in the Central-West Orana and Upper Hunter regions. The projects will be constructed in 2 of the state's Renewable Energy Zones (REZs). The projects in Apsley (Central-West Orana REZ) and Muswellbrook (Hunter Central Coast REZ) involve building and operating 120-megawatt and 150-megawatt battery storage systems which will connect to the existing electricity network. The new projects will create 132 jobs, inject $280 million into NSW's economy, help maintain energy reliability and keep the lights on throughout the state.
