INQUIRER FILE PHOTO MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday reported that the latest count of people affected by typhoons Egay and Falcon, and the southwest monsoon has exceeded 5 million. Based on its August 13 situational report, the NDRRMC said 5,293,546 individuals or 1,352,055 families residing in 5,535 barangays nationwide have been affected by the recent weather events. This figure includes the 57,628 people displaced by the typhoons and southwest monsoon, which is locally known as habagat.
