Soju 'Sunyang' that contains 14.9 percent alcohol [Photo by Yonhap]The Mackiss Co., a liquor company based in Chungcheong Province in South Korea, has opened a new era of soju, a distilled spirit and the most popular alcoholic drink in the country, by introducing a product with below 15 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).The company launched 'Sunyang' that contains 14.9 percent alcohol, which is sharply down from 35 percent when Koreans started to drink soju 100 years ago. Sunyang is now the soju with the lowest level of alcohol content after Hite Jinro's 'Jinro is Back' and Lotte Chilsung Beverage's 'Chum-Churum Saero.
