A 17-year-old who was wounded in a shooting by a Hemet police officer more than two years ago but was not arrested was the victim of accidental gunfire, the Riverside County District Attorney's Office said. The shooting happened during a traffic stop on Jan. 2, 2019. Hemet police, who issued a short news release immediately after the incident, had not elaborated since then on what prompted the officer to fire or why no arrest was made if the officer believed pointing a gun at the teen was justified.
