Global Jet Watch school student astronomy program discovers nova with jets
The Global Jet Watch project consists of five observatories distributed around the Earth such that there is always an observatory in darkness.  The observatories are in India, Western Australia, New South Wales, Chile and South Africa. This allows for continuous observation. The program links school students to the telescopes. Students are encouraged to play with the telescope, a research-grade instrument. As project leader Katherine Blundell explains, during the early months of COVID lockdown, there was a major discovery.
