Fifty-one forest fires broke out in Korea since Sunday as the country sweltered in dry weather and unseasonable heat. Most of the flames have been extinguished.The biggest fire, which erupted in Hongseong, South Chungcheong Province, was mostly put out around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Korea Forest Service.Eleven of the fires burned more than 50,000 sq. m of woodland, devastating an area of 32.48 sq.km. "The damaged area could increase because loss assessments are continuing," a KFS official said.
