For some, the contraceptive pill comes with side effects which can lead to anxiety and impacts on health and wellbeing. But GPs don't always acknowledge these reports from their patients. Susan Manners at Western Sydney University surveyed over 1,000 women, trans and gender diverse people about their experiences with contraception. Amongst the positive reports, Susan discovered anger and frustration from a range of negative impacts with some doctors refusing to acknowledge side effects. She says policies to reduce unintended pregnancies should pay greater attention to the experiences of patients.
