Capitola resident and local sailor Skip Allan won the 82nd International 110 National Championship regatta on Tomales Bay, Aug. 8-12. Skip Allan and his crew, Sean Callagy, won the Nationals with Smart Shoes, #695, a local InvYC boat. The International 110 is a narrow, 24-foot, double-ended, two-person keelboat with a spinnaker and trapeze. These historical boats were first built in 1939. Currently more than 20 boats race out of Inverness, on Tomales Bay, an hour north of San Francisco. The National Championship regatta is a seven-race, one-throwout series raced over four days.
