AWS announced today the plan to open an infrastructure region in New Zealand in 2024 with a new AWS Asia Pacific (Auckland) region consisting of three availability zones. The new region provides NZ customers with low latency workloads and secure data storage meeting data sovereignty requirements. An AWS economic study estimates the new region will create 1,000 new jobs in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and an economic impact to Aotearoa's GDP of $NZ 10.8 billion over the next 15 years through an investment of $NZ 7.
