Every Labor Day, many Chico residents make their way to the Sacramento River to float from the Irvine Finch boat ramp, just outside of Hamilton City, to a river access point near Scotty's Landing a few miles south. While I have lived in Chico for almost five years now, I had never made it out on a float, so I had no idea what I was in for.
