At midnight last night, the platform officially added Sony's latest MCU-adjacent Marvel movie to its streaming library, giving legions of new viewers the chance to judge Leto's performance for themselves.Morbius marks the second Sony release (Uncharted being the first) to make its way onto the platform as part of the deal the two companies inked last year, which makes Netflix the streaming destination for all of the studio's 2022 tentpoles.

Ever since the release of 2016's Star Trek Beyond, the fourth film in the series, Star Trek 4, has had trouble getting out of spacedock. In 2016, J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay wrote a script for a fourth film, but it never materialized. From 2017-2019, Quentin Tarantino, S.J. Clarkson, and Noah Hawley were considered to direct, but all moved on to other projects. Last year, Paramount hired Matt Shakman to direct, and Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet to pen the script. The film was set to arrive on December 22, 2023.

Following the lukewarm critical response to its Venom and Morbius movies, Sony was aiming to bring even more Marvel characters to the big screen next year, with new films featuring Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web scheduled for 2023. However, the studio is making big changes to its release calendar, and both characters were caught in the shuffle. Disney has never shied away from trying to turn its theme park rides into box office gold. And now, Disney's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be the next attraction to get a big screen adaptation. Deadline is reporting that Hawkeye directors Bert (Amber Templemore-Finlayson) & Bertie (Katie Ellwood) are in negotiations to helm the film. Rumors about Netflix gutting its animation department have been swirling for months. But thankfully, at least one beloved show is surviving the purge. The streaming service has announced that Love, Death + Robots is coming back for another volume of episodes. As expected, Black Adam was once again the number 1 movie at the box office this weekend. The only question was what the drop off from week 1 to week 2 would look like. According to Deadline, Black Adam had $27.7 million in its second weekend, a 59% drop from $67 million it had last weekend. That gives the DC superhero film a new domestic total of $111.1 million. Worldwide, Black Adam currently stands at $250 million.The new question is whether Black Adam will recoup its approximately $200 million budget and a large advertising campaign which was likely over $100 million by itself.

Right now, Shawn Levy is getting ready to visit the MCU as the director of Marvel's Deadpool 3. In October 2019, director Todd Phillips' Joker standalone film quickly became the highest grossing R-rated film to date. Joaquin Phoenix also won an Oscar for his leading role as Arthur Fleck/Joker. The Incredible Hulk was the second movie in the MCU, but it also had the longest-lingering plotline.
