WATCH: Impressive second-half sees Subway Socceroos down New Zealand 2-0
An inspired second-half performance has helped Australia to a 2-0 friendly win over New Zealand at Eden Park on Sunday. Mitch Duke scored his eighth goal for the Subway Socceroos before Jason Cummings marked his debut with a finish from the penalty spot. After a disjointed first-half, the visitors clicked into gear in the second stanza as five substitutes featured for the national team for the first time. Graham Arnold made 11 changes to the starting eleven that beat New Zealand 1-0 in Brisbane, opting for an experimental side which included a debut to centre-back Harrison Delbridge.

Meulensteen signs on for Socceroos
Meulensteen has been a key member of the Subway Socceroos and Olyroos' coaching staff since joining Head Coach Graham Arnold's staff in 2018. The former Manchester United first team coach said he is delighted to have signed on with the Subway Socceroos and highlighted the potential as one of the key reasons for staying on. 'The potential, the opportunities, and the challenges that lie ahead are the reasons why I've chosen to sign on for a further campaign,' explained Meulensteen. 'The first question I would ask myself as a coach if I've worked with a group of players for a number of years is, ‘have I got an opportunity to bring more out of it (the program) in terms of the set-up of the squad, what is the make-up of it, is there enough young players coming through', and that's the case here (with the Socceroos), so I'm very excited to be carrying on'.

‘I felt ready': how Souttar overcame ACL injury to star at World Cup
A year ago, Souttar's FIFA World Cup dream was thrown into chaos after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament for his country in a qualifier against Saudi Arabia. At the time he was a driving force behind the Socceroos' bid to qualify for Qatar with six goals from his first five games - and was proving to be a leading player for Stoke City in the Championship. An 11-month lay-off with some difficult days followed, but Souttar tried to stay positive during his rehabilitation and focus on recovering in time for the FIFA World Cup Qatar.

Socceroos.com.au 1670294188,1670294235 Argentina secured a 2-1 win over the Socceroos but the third-ranked nation was pushed until the very end of the last 16 contest. Despite taking a two-goal lead courtesy of goals from Messi and Julian Alvarez, Australia did not go down without a fight, and had the momentum after Craig Goodwin's deflected half-volley halved the deficit on 77 minutes. However, it was not to be for Australia, who experienced its most successful FIFA World Cup campaign, as the Albiceleste now set up a fascinating tie with the Netherlands with a spot in the semi-final up for grabs.
