MANILA, Philippines — The police and Roy Mabasa — brother of slain radio broadcaster Percy Lapid — have filed a murder complaint against Joel Escorial and three others before the Department of Justice. Escorial was presented to media on Tuesday and confessed to the October 3 killing of Lapid in Las Piñas City. Mabasa personally went to the DOJ office to affirm the complaint filed on Tuesday. The police's Criminal Investigation and Detective Group personnel led by Police LtCol. Joel Manual Ana are also among the complainants.

'Health is indeed wealth': Lessons from my recent hospital confinement I wasn't able to write my weekly articles for two weeks because I had to pause. I was confined in a hospital for two days due to tummy ache and some tests had to be done. The tests came out 'clean' (that's the doctor's term) but we are still awaiting the results of my biopsy of an inflammation in a small part of my colon. The tummy ache was not really severe but more of a nagging discomfort. It's just that, at my age, I am more vigilant of what my body is telling me.

The Embassy of Canada in the Philippines on Wednesday announced that the Philippines is now part of its Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program. Under this program, eligible foreign visitors from visa-required countries can now travel to Canada without applying for new Canadian visas. In a statement posted on its Facebook and Twitter accounts, the Canadian embassy listed the qualifications for this initiative.
