PCI Versus CABG in Multivessel CAD: Long-term Outcomes
In a recent article, published in Circulation , investigators compared extended outcomes of patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD) who underwent either percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with everolimus-eluting stents or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) in the BEST trial. According to the report, there were no significant differences between PCI and CABG in rates of major adverse cardiac events, safety composite events, and any-cause mortality during extended follow-up.

Study Investigates Urate-Lowering Therapy for Gout Patients on Hemodialysis
Gout is a common form of inflammatory arthritis, affecting an estimated 3.9% of US adults. It is associated with high serum uric acid (UA) in the blood forming monosodium urate (MSU) crystals. These crystals deposit in and around the joints, causing flares of swelling, pain, and redness in joints. In addition to several other comorbidities, gout has been linked to the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Hemodialysis (HD) is a ERSD treatment that filters waste and water from the blood, fulfilling the role of healthy kidneys.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Could Predict Renal Outcomes in Gout Patients With CKD
Gout is a common form of arthritis that occurs when uric acid crystals build up in the joints, leading to inflammation and intense pain. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is another prevalent condition that affects the kidneys' ability to filter waste products from the blood, resulting in the accumulation of toxins in the body. According to a recent study in Kidney Diseases , diagnosing kidney injury in patients with gout is often delayed, highlighting the need for better diagnostic tools. The study aimed to determine the characteristics of gout patients with CKD using musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) and evaluate whether MSUS could be used to assess kidney injury and predict renal outcomes in gout patients.

Focal Cryoablation, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for Prostate Cancer
There was no significant difference in failure-free survival rates between patients with unilateral localized prostate cancer who underwent focal cryoablation and patients who received stereotactic body radiotherapy, according to a recent study. However, patients who received stereotactic body radiotherapy had significantly worse sexual function than patients who underwent focal cryoablation. The study was led by Ashley Monaco, BS, a medical student at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, and principal investigator, Aaron Katz, MD, of the New York University Long Island School of Medicine.
