The San Mateo City Council passed a resolution this week that will establish a pedestrian mall shut down to traffic on South B Street. There will be two sections of it – one between First Ave. and Second. Traffic Along Both Sides Of PCH Near Temescal Canyon Clogged Due To Extinguished Palisades Brush Fire
PACIFIC PALISADES (CBSLA) – The Los Angeles Fire Department contained a brush fire on a steep hillside along Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades. The flames just east of Temescal Canyon only grew to a couple of acres. It likely started near the base of the canyon in thick brush, but was able to rapidly climb the hillside. LAFD use helicopters to knock the flames down. Both sides of PCH continue to be closed as a result of the fire, southbound at Temescal and northbound at Entrada. Traffic has backed up significantly as a result of the closures.

SACRAMENTO (AP) — A superior court judge in Marin County tentatively ruled Friday that state prison officials acted with deliberate indifference when they caused a deadly coronavirus outbreak at San Quentin State Prison last year. But he said vaccines have since so changed the landscape that officials are no longer violating inmates' constitutional rights. The lawsuit stemmed from the botched transfer of infected inmates in May 2020 from a Southern California prison to San Quentin, which at the time had no infections.

VALLEY VILLAGE (CBSLA) – A vehicle that nearly hit a an LAPD cruiser close to the intersection of Lankershim and Burbank Boulevards led police in a pursuit and eventually a standoff at a Valley Village used car dealership. The suspect pulled into Boktor Motors, located on the corner of Riverside Drive and Colfax Avenue, where he exited his vehicle, threw a traffic cone at officers. He then took off shirt and began doing pushups, before getting up and fidgeting with one of the cars on the lot. Eventually, the man disappeared into the back of the car dealership.

CLAREMONT (CBSLA) — A woman was fatally shot in Claremont and now authorities are searching for clues or information that could lead to an arrest. Homicide investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department say they responded to the 800 block of South Indian Hill following a report of a shooting. There, a shooting had unfolded just after 1:40 a.m. Sunday. When authorities arrived on scene, they located a female victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
