Hello and welcome to AS USA's live feed covering financial, business, and economic news...  Yesterday, the BLS released the September Unemployment Report, which found that unemployment held steady at 3.8 percent last month.  This is one closely watched indicator by the Federal Reserve, which has paused rate increases in current months , awaiting more information on how the hikes implemented over the last year have impacted the l abor market and consumer and producer prices.  Next week, the Social Security Adminstration will release the 2024 Cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), which will be applied to Social Security benefits and  the other programs administered by the SSA.

Needs, wants, savings, otherwise known as the 50-30-20 rule, is a way of budgeting your income that can help you get control of your finances. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median weekly income for workers in the US from January to March 2023 was $1,100 a week.  The median refers to the midpoint, meaning that fifty percent of workers make more than this amount, with the other half making less. The motion to vacate passed after all Democrats and eight GOP representatives voted in favor. McCarthy has said that he will not put his name in the hat for the next Speaker elections, conceding to the extreme wing of his party that called for his removal. Now, the GOP caucus must elect a new Speaker, and it could take time to identify a representative with enough support to make it over the 218 threshold.

Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida has moved to oust Speaker McCarthy which has led members of the GOP to call for his expulsion.  Former president Donald Trump is dominating GOP primary polls, but his legal troubles continue to grow . Last week, a New York court found him liable for financial fraud, and this week, a civil suit into his financial dealings begins.

Welcome to the Diario AS USA live commentary of the final game of the 2023 regular season between the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners as the AL West has come right down to the bitter end. The Texas Rangers clinched a playoff spot with a win last night in game three, which simultaneously saw the Seattle Mariners see their Wild Card hopes dashed. The American League will send Toronto to the post season in one Wild Card spot and either Houston or Texas will occupy the other. The Rangers are currently in first place in the AL West with Houston trailing by just game.

The Cowboys and Patriots so far this season The Dallas Cowboys' season started out great with a 40-0 defeat over the Giants and a 30-10 win over the Jets, but in Week 3, they were upset by the Arizona Cardinals with a 28-16 loss . They lost CB Trevon Diggs to a season-ending injury, which was a huge loss to their defense, and their offense is still struggling to get moving.  The New England Patriots are 1-2 , but their two losses to the Dolphins and Eagles were both by under 10 points before beating the Jets in Week 3, 15-10.

The Bills went into Washington and took on a Commanders team that was undefeated threw two weeks. Many people were using their game against the Bills to see if the Commanders were for real, and Josh Allen and the Bills answered that question with a thumping win over Sam Howell and Washington. Buffalo put up 37 points, but Allen had a normal day going for 218 yards and a TD with one INT . It was the defense that locked down the Washington offense, picking Howell off four times, one of those going for a TD, and sacking him nine times and holding them to a total of 230 yards .

Former president and current frontrunner, Donald Trump, was notably absent once again. Both President Biden and Trump made stops in Michigan, with the former becoming the first modern president to visit a picket line. Trump, on the other hand, made a campaign stop at a non-union business to speak with current and former autoworkers, though it seemed that many supporters with no relation to the auto industry were also in the crowd.

President Biden makes speech from a UAW picket line Presidnet Biden made history earlier this week when he became the first modern president to join striking workers on a picket line. UAW members were happy to see the president show solidarity with their cause and call out companies that have not adequately shared their profits with their workers. The president mentioned that he stood with UAW workers as an elected official in 1973 as a senator.  The UAW endorsed then-candidate Biden in April 2020 but has yet to endorse him for his 2024 run.

Cowboys and Cardinals: Where do they stand? The Arizona Cardinals are 0- 2 and the Dallas Cowboys are 2-0 heading into the Week 3.  Dominant Dallas Defense The Cowboys have been dominant in their start to the season, beating the Giants 40-0 and then the Jets, 30-10. How have Real Madrid started the 2023-24 season? The chances are you already know the answer to that question, but here we go anyway. Real Madrid have won every single game so far this season (five in LaLiga, one in the Champions League).  The won the first two by a two-goal margin but have since only managed to squeeze past Celta, Getafe, Real Sociedad and Union Berlin by the odd goal. As bank customers move online and make fewer trips to their local branches, many national financial institutions are closing down locations. This is not a new trend. Insider Intelligence reported that between 2017 and 2021, nine percent of all branches — around 7,000 locations— shut their doors. The branches currently being shut are typically found in cities where another location exists, leaving customers with an office in case they require in-person assistance. Real wages fell half a percent in August August saw one of the most significant decreases in real wages this year, falling 0.5 percent. Compared to August 2022, real wages are up by 0.5 percent, but since January, no increases have been seen.  Real wages account for how changes in the Consumer Price Index impact a worker's purchasing power.
