President Marcos has appointed the new Philippine ambassador to Nigeria and top executives at the state-owned People's Television (PTV) Network Inc., and Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). The Presidential Communications Office said Mr. Marcos appointed Mersole Mellejor, former consul to Milan and Singapore and former director at the Department of Foreign Affairs' Office of European Affairs, as ambassador to Nigeria, Africa's most populous country. He will have concurrent jurisdiction over 12 other countries in Central and West Africa, namely, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Cote d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo.
