One weekend during my rotation in Korea, me and two other Infantry Officers took a day trip to Seoul. Apart from the usual sightseeing, I had an objective. I wanted to find a traditional Korean wedding gift for my cousin, whose grandparents were originally from the country. My search took us up a steep street in Itaewon, where the Seoul Tower peaks through the colorful buildings. Here I came across a picturesque pottery store. A helpful employee navigated us through the narrow halls, explaining the art and impressing upon us her decades of knowledge.
