City of Playford residents can now receive a free green bin, as part of a new Council initiative to reduce waste going to landfill. The new service, which was approved by Council in the 2023/24 Annual Business Plan, rolled out from 4 September and is available to all residents who do not have a green, or Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) bin. Mayor Glenn Docherty said the new service is about working proactively with the community to reduce waste going to landfill. "Organic matter, like kitchen scraps and garden cuttings, makes up a significant proportion of waste that goes to landfill," the Mayor said.
