MANILA, Philippines — Releasing frogs in stagnant waters to eliminate mosquitoes will not prevent the spread of dengue infections, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday. DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire issued the remark after reports that a local government unit (LGU) released frogs in its waterways as a way to prevent dengue. 'Hindi ‘yun tama. Kahapon noong narinig natin ‘yung balita, agad agad nating tinawagan ‘yung kanilang LGU officials, ‘yung city mayor nila, at agad na rumisponde ang city mayor at tinawagan ‘yung barangay captain para ipatigil,' she said in an interview over ABS CBN's TeleRadyo.
