S ir Michael Stoute is enjoying something of an Indian summer to his illustrious career and Passenger can provide the Newmarket trainer with a second successive win in the Betfred Derby (1.30pm) — and seventh in all — at Epsom on Saturday. Stoute , 77, saddled his first Derby winner in 1981 with the brilliant Shergar. Desert Crown provided him with his first success since Workforce in 2010 when lifting the prize 12 months ago and there is every chance that Passenger can give him yet more joy. Desert Crown won the Dante Stakes at York before going on to glory at Epsom and Passenger might well have followed suit, but for a luckless run on the Knavesmire.
