Confirmed daily COVID-19 infections continued to fall, dipping by 14 percent to an average of 239 cases in the same week that President Marcos declared that COVID-19 was no longer a public health emergency. There were 1,671 cases recorded from July 17 to July 23, slightly down from the 1,938 infections the previous week. Of those who tested positive last week, 35 were critical or severely ill. More than 3,000 COVID-19 patients are still confined in hospitals, with at least 315 of them in serious condition.
