MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday said it will begin removing double or multiple registrations in its voters' database in preparation for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). In a statement, the Comelec said that the poll body is now set to conduct a Special Election Registration Board hearing to tackle the removal of multiple registrations. The move was in response to the Commission en banc's following directives: The abatement of double or multiple registrants at the local level (city or municipal); The deletion of the original Voter's Registration Records of transferees: Within the same city or municipality (barangay) To other city or municipality and the retention of transferees' Voter's Registration Records in the city or municipality transferred to; The deletion of the voter's registration records of deceased persons as reported or confirmed by the Local Civil Registrars (per their duly issued Certificate of Death); and The inclusion/exclusion of Voter's Registration Records per the decisions/orders of the Metropolitan Trial Courts/Municipal Trial Courts/ Municipal Trial Court in Cities.
