The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 25 kilometers. Reported intensities were felt in the following areas: Intensity IV – Llorente, and Balangkayan, Eastern Samar Intensity III – City of Borongan, Hernani, Maydolong, and Gen.
