Korea designates Oct. 2 as temporary holiday
President Yoon Suk Yeol designated Oct. 2 as a temporary holiday during a meeting at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul, on Thursday. The designation will allow six days off starting with the four-day Chuseok holiday between Sept. 28 and Oct. 1 that leads to the Oct. 3 National Foundation Day. The government plans to provide 600,000 accommodation discount coupons and exempt expressway toll fees during the holiday week, Yoon said, which is aimed at boosting domestic consumption and tourism.
