Defer hike in fuel surcharges, CAB urged
Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez (Photo from his Facebook page) MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) should defer its imposition of higher aviation fuel surcharges as more expensive airplane fares could dampen local and domestic travel and tourism. Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez made this call on Saturday as the CAB is set to implement higher fuel surcharges in September after three months of no adjustments. Rodriguez also appealed to Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, and other airline companies to forgo collecting the increased surcharge.
