Canterbury is proud to support the Special Friends Sports Trust, who change the lives of at-risk and disadvantaged tamariki through sport. Although there is a focus on sports their main work is around their sense of belong, wellbeing, confidence, and family support – helping the child build multiple support communities to break the cycle of trauma through sport – what they call ‘Pathways to Change'. Their volunteers sports mentor program is literally changing the pathway of the children taking part.
