When George Michael died suddenly in 2016 aged 53, many obituaries characterised him as a depressive recluse troubled by addiction. His former osteopath suggested that the Wham! singer was resigned to death and putting his affairs in order. Don't mention this to Shirlie Kemp though, one of Michael's closest friends (and half of Pepsi and Shirlie, the backing singers to the Eighties pop duo). It makes her furious. 'It's so insulting to say George was ready to die and it makes me so angry when these people crawl out from the woodwork and say these things.
