San Andreas, CA — The PAWS ARK 2000 sanctuary in the San Andreas area of Calaveras County is honoring the life and legacy of animal activist and TV gameshow host Bob Barker. Barker is best remembered for hosting The Price is Right, but he also used the popular show to fight for animals, stating at the end of each show to 'remember to spay and neuter your pets.' He died Saturday at the age of 99. 'He literally changed the public's perception of pet overpopulation for the benefit of companion animals everywhere,' recognized PAWS President/CEO and Co-Founder Ed Stewart, adding, 'Bob is greatly responsible for PAWS' nearly 40 years of success in advocating on behalf of and providing sanctuary to captive wild animals at our 2,300-acre captive wildlife sanctuary.
