Naia runways shut for inspection after earthquake felt in Metro Manila
MANILA, Philippines — The runways of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) have been closed for inspection following the 6.3 earthquake in Calatagan, Batangas, which was felt in Metro Manila early Thursday, the Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) said. Aside from the runways, the taxiways of Naia have also been closed, according to Miaa. 'We seek the understanding of the public for possible effects to flight schedules due to the runway closure,' the Miaa said in a statement 'The MIAA Ground Safety Units are now doing a cursory inspection to check any damage to the pavements,' it added.
