Teves admits to operating e-sabong ‘a long time ago'
MANILA, Philippines — Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. on Thursday admitted to operating an e-sabong (online cockfight) 'a long time ago.' In an interview, the suspended congressman asserted that e-sabong is not gambling and that there is no existing law saying it is illegal. 'Before, before, before. There is no law. A long time ago, yes. Long time ago, we were testing the app. We were testing the technology behind it,' he explained in a mix of English and Filipino at ANC's Headstart. Currently, he said, he no longer operates an e-sabong as he does not own a franchise for it.
