South Korea to attend NATO summit in Lithuania, eyes talks with Japan
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will attend a NATO summit in Lithuania next week, the presidential office said Thursday, with arrangements also underway for a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Yoon will visit Vilnius from Monday to Wednesday, the second time he will have participated in a gathering of the Western alliance, according to the presidential office. He will then make an official visit to Poland from Thursday. If the topic of Japan's plan to release treated radioactive water from the disaster-hit Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea comes up, Yoon "will mention what he thinks necessary based on (the government's) principle of prioritizing the people's health," an official of the presidential office said.
