Researchers investigating brain activity in older people say the coordination between neuronal activity and the brain's oxygenation is altered. The findings are published in Brain Research Bulletin by scientists from Lancaster University, UK and the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The brain requires as much as 20% of the body's energy consumption so the brain and the cardiovascular system have to work closely together to ensure sufficient energy supply to each part of the brain.
