The item came as a result of more cities adopting organic waste collection services to meet the state's goal of reducing greenhouse gases by 2025 through cutting disposal of organic waste by 75 percent. Organic waste is defined as food waste, landscape trimmings, compostable paper and nonhazardous wood waste.
